This is often the most difficult thing for starters. What niche should I choose? Which niche is the best one? How do I know what is a good niche? Which niche will generate most money? In what niche can I use my knowledge? I guess you have pondered these questions as well.
My thoughts on this is to pick a niche you love or want to learn more about. Your unique experiences and your life is what you should base your own niche on, because you are going to spend a lot of time within this niche. So why not choose something you are passionate about? Affiliate disclaimers are information to the visitor on a website so they know that when they click through on a link and purchase anything the website will get a comission from the merchant at no extra cost to them and certain data will be collected and why.
It will give people a choice to protect their data and privacy online. It is best practice on the internet to have visible disclaimers to protect your visitors privacy. You might want to read my post How to create an affiliate disclaimer to find the long answer to your question. The short answer is it would not be best practices and In worst case your content could be banned or violating federal and international laws and you will not make any money.
Personally I think it is better to be open about that links on your website are affiliate links. I see too many websites who try to hide the fact that they are recommending a product or getting commissions for recommending it them in my articles.. I take my visitors privacy seriously and I want to give people thruthful information to the best of my knowledge so they can make up their own mind about their privacy online and the products.

When that is said Affiliate marketing is not difficult to learn, but it takes time to get results mainly because most affiliate marketers use SEO as a tool. You need practice on that. SEO can be much more effective than paid ads in the long run and it is totally free.
It is true that many affiliate marketers quit within the first year, because they have not got the results they were expecting. I think it has to do with unrealistic expectations and as you pointed out a lot of less serious marketers online looking for quick and easy money is not helping people.
