I am sure you have heard about Pinterest, but do you really know what Pinterest is? I always thought Pinterest was of no other value than to post and collect nice pictures. Believing no one was still using Pinterest at all and it was an outdated platform belonging in the past. I used it from time to get inspired not realizing that Pinterest is one of the online platforms that is having the highest volume of buyers. Did you know that?

Pinterest is not like any other Social media platform out there. Pinterest is slightly different. It stands out in a particular way. It is more visual and interest orientated. Pinterest users go there to discover what they love. It is designed to make discoveries. This leads me to another question: What does your customers love? Do you know?

If you are an internet marketer, affiliatemarketer, solopreneur, business owner, mompreneur, net worker or work at home online you should know what interests your customers have.

If you do a quick Google search on how many people use Pinterest you will find the staggering number of 335 million users!

That is a lot of users with different interests. I think you get an idea of how many people you miss out on if you do not use Pinterest. Do you agree?

According to a recent study that was done on Pinterest 72% of the users said they were inspired to buy and collecting inspiration for their own projects without having the intention to buy in the first place. And 72% is about 241 million buyers and idea collectors.

I can totally relate to this. I have made many purchases while cruising on pinterest without any intention to buy anything. What about you? Have you made any Purchases via Pinterest?

Some facts about Pinterest

Pinterest was founded in 2009 and launched in 2010 by Ben Silberman and Evan Sharp. The owner is Pinterest. Pinterest Say that this is not a Social platform but a practical platform to discover interests and get inspired.

Pinterest Is user-friendly and easy to manage and have a great support.

How long time before I see results from marketing on Pinterest?

When you start with a Pinterest business account your conversions will not happen overnight. It will take some time normally. It is not like advertising on Facebook and other Social media platforms. The simple reason for this is that Pinterest is a visual search and discover tool – not a social media platform. So it works a bit differently than social media platforms. On pinterest you focus on your customers interests and how to help them. You are connecting with your customers in a totally different way. It demands you know the behavior of your customer. What inspires your customer? What do your customer love? You grow organic traffic.

After I started with Pinterest I noticed much more traffic to my website and every month my views and traffic grows. Just last month I got 40% more views and 44% more clicks on links.

Final thoughts

Pinterest is a Mecca for online business and affiliate marketers especially, because they are accustomed to SEO. Using pinterest on a regular basis and marketing your business will lead to more traffic and sales for your business. It will give you a unique insight into your customers interests and the opportunity to offer helpful pins to your customers that will inspire them to buy your product, visit your website and much more.

Hi Kara! Awesome that you will try. My advice is to just start and learn as you go. From the start Read the guides and tutorials to get most out of your pinning. And get the Jaaxy SEO tool to find the best search words. Then you can just start making, posting and scheduling pins in Promorepublic or Tailwind . You can also make pins in Canva.

  3. Hi Hilde, Your article came JUST at the right moment! I’ve only known a little about Pinterest, from someone else’s evaluation, which made me somewhat skeptic about Pinterest. Yes, I also thought Pinterest was about posting and collecting pictures.

Well Hilde, you’ve managed to make me a believer in Pinterest, and I will most definitely check it out, and use all your tips and ideas.

    Thank you!

  4. Hi there, what a great blog on why one should be using Pinterest. I recently started increasing my use of Pinterest after I saw a video on the use of Pinterest and how to look at the analytics. But I do think there is a lot more that I could be doing to drive traffic from my boards to my website.

Thanks for the reminder to have more activity on Pinterest.

Hi Line! There are definitely many things you can do to drive more traffic to your website. The most important is the SEO. If you do not use Jaaxy today I would definitely consider getting it. And a good posting tool like Tailwind and Promorepublic.

  5. Your post was a real eye-opener on how to use Pinterest, had not considered this platform in the past.   I honestly did not know that Pinterest has more conversions than Facebook.  Most of the posts I see similar to my business on Pinterest are just flat out advertisements.  There must be a better way to attract people.   I appreciate your sharing the reasonably priced apps for creating posts.    Checked out Promorepublic and wonder how does it compare to Hootsuite which have I used for years?

    1. Author

Hi Steve! Yes It was an Eyeopener to me as well until I started reading statistics on conversions. But I have actually purchased more on pinterest than I have on other platforms so I have no reason not to believe the statistics. Good question Steve: According to G2 hootsoote is rated 4.1 against Promorepublic 4.7. Read the comparison here. You might also want to read my PromoRepublic review.

  6. Hello Hilde 🙂

Thanks for bringing this back for me.

I used pinterest and tailwind when i started my online business but i stopped as i did not understand it fully.

You have provided a better grasp and i would be checking out tailwind to help with my pinterest growth.

Thanks for the resource on the free training.

Hi! You are welcome! Glad I could be a good reminder. You should definitely try out Promorepublic as well. They have a free trial and are now offering a valuable Free Social Media Course. I have gone through it myself and I recommend it to everyone. A lot of valuable insights and tools. I use both Tailwind and Promorepublic.

  7. Social media marketing is something that I could never wrap my head around, but Pinterest is a different thing because it’s more visually oriented and I love that kind of connection with my audience. Like you, I also feel like it’s more for female-oriented hobbies but I can definitely see my niche spreading its influence on this social channel.

I see that you mentioned two programs for Pinterest. If PromoRepublic is for scheduling, then what exactly does Tailwind do?

    1. Author

Hi Cathy! Thank you for stopping by and giving your valuable insights. Yes Pinterest is visual in a more emotional and helpful way. It is not about showing your best face to the world. It is about getting inspired to action.

Good question. You can use both Tailwind and Promorepublic for creating, scheduling and posting. I think it is a matter of taste. I use both of them. Tailwind has a hashtagfinder and smartbio as special features. Promorepublic have a lot of premade templates and their mobile app works better for me, With Tailwind I have to reconnect all the time. With Promorepublic you can connect to most of the Social Media platforms while Tailwind connects only to Pinterest and Instagram and facebook.  I suggest you take a free trial of both and then decide. New features is constantly added on both platforms.

  8. Nice article you have here. Pinterest is quite unique, my question now is, does it require finance to sign up, how does the conversion process works, do Pinterest have a referral link, is there any specific percentage of the number of view and the click on my link before I can earn? .

    1. Author

Great Questions! I am glad you ask!

Pinterest is totally free to sign up. Pinterest does not have a referral link, but  posting and schedule platforms like Tailwind for Pinterest and Promorepublic do have a price for signing up.

You might want to read my Review of Tailwind plus and Promorepublic Review o get a better grasp.

When it comes to the conversion process the statistics tells us that Pinterest converts 33% more than Facebook.

I thought Facebook was converting more until I read the statistics and the Pinterest survey. The explanation according to the survey and statista is that users on pinterest are inspired to action emotionally. Pinterest users are looking for inspiration and helpful ideas based on their interests and in that respect the conversion process is shorter. The survey also point on the fact that a high number of these buyers had no intent to purchase.

Pinterest does not give you any commission per click. You can  add affiliatelinks to products or services you are promoting. Normally pinterest marketers have a website and their pinterest pin is linked to the website, a product or a post. I think to get quality views that converts you need to know what your customer likes and provide helpful and visual content in your pin.

You may want to grab the chance to take the Free social media marketing course provided by Promorepublic. That would be very helpful to you in how to get more views and conversions. I hope this answered your questions…
