What is your story?

Have you ever asked yourself the question – what is my story?
Have you ever visualized yourself as a 105-year-old woman/ man sitting in your room in a home for elderly people, thinking back on your life?
What would be your question to yourself you think?
I know mine would be – did I live the life I wanted to live?
Did I do the things that was important to me and others or did I just do what was expected of me?
That day when you sit there in your little room you will know your story.
You will know all the things you should have said, done and experienced.
You will know all your regrets and all your triumphs.
You will know what matters in life.
That is your story in retrospect.
How can your story be your fortune?

Then you may start to wonder why do I ask you this and what is the connection to my daily practice for success?
Well, I think every one knows the story about Jesus, Charlie Chaplin, Einstein, Walt Disney, Florence Nightingale and Mother Theresa just to mention some life stories out there who have touched so many people.
All of them have one thing in common – Their struggle and their story became their fortune.
Did they plan it to be so?
I can not answer that question because I do not know that.
You can make up your own mind about that.
All of them are communicators, believers, achievers and have a great amount of self-discipline and inner drive.
Their successes are built on their stories of struggle, hardship, passion, belief, purpose and focus.
You might think they are exceptional people.
More exceptional than you.
But is that really true?
Or did they just had so much dedication, passion, focus and belief in what they were doing so they never gave up?
You are underestimating the power of your story
Photo:Unsplash
One thing they have in common is the knowledge of how powerful stories can be.
Jesus told stories, Walt Disney made cartoons to tell his story, Charlie Chaplin used film and humor, Mother Theresa used giving, kindness, love and humanity hands – on to demonstrate the power of how one person can change the world.
Today we have people like Tony Robbins, Oprah, Malala, J. K Rowling and many others who have made their story their fortune.
Thanks to the social media and the technological revolution we are all able to broadcast glimpses of our stories in one way or another and take part in each others stories as well. We are interconnected and we are all able to make a change if we want to.
Just look at Greta Thunberg and her strike for climate. One decision to strike school every Friday totally changed her life and made a huge impact on other people.
When I use the word fortune it does not mainly mean money or status. To me It means opportunity, The power to live your life free, change for the better of many others, your dream come true, your deepest why manifested, to be happy.
The normal definition is as follows :
If you Google the word fortunate you will probably find something like this:
“The definition of fortunate is someone or something that is lucky or favorable, or someone who is materially well-off. A lucky turn of events is an example of a fortunate turn of events.”

You see where I am getting at?
The problem you and I have related to our daily practice for success is : we do not know if we can change our story, become a fortunate story or if our story even have a value for others. Am I right?
But how can we be successful, if we do not believe in the power of our own story? If we never try to and If we never focus on it?
So what if we do not “succeed” in other peoples eyes? as long as we succeed on our own terms we are fortunate and our story have a value for us.
I love the quote – She believed she could, so she did.
The power of your story is your belief in it and your constant daily practice to bring your story to the world.
Let me give you one good example :

Let me tell you the short story of Fumiko Takatsu The founder of The Face Yoga Method that I wrote a review about not so long ago.
Her story is an inspiration to me and to many others as well all over the world.
She injured her face in a car crash.
She started to train the muscles in her face every day to become symmetrical in her face again.
She started out from scratch creating The Face Yoga Method.
Today she appears in 90+ magazines, 30 + TV and radio shows, 20+ Talkshows and she is the bestselling Author of The Face yoga Method.
She has educated numerous instructors and helped many people become more confident and get more toned muscles in their face with this method.
Fumiko Takatsu have touched many lives with her story. Her personal story is her fortune.
The car crash was a ” lucky ” turn of events that changed her life, gave her a new opportunity, a purpose and focus.
She believed she could and she did it.
Only if one believes in something, can one act purposefully

What is belief?
In my dictionary I can read:
“Belief is to have confidence in the truth, the existence, or the reliability of something, although without absolute proof that one is right in doing so: Only if one believes in something can one act purposefully.”
Daily practice for success really mean you must believe in your purpose, your story and your dream.
Document Your story

There is a pattern to all of these stories.
Stories that are documented over time.
Doing what they loved the most and what they believed in.
A need to help others in achieving a better life.
They knew their why.
The ability focus, to be dedicated and disciplined.
Doing despite fear of failure.
Clear vision and goals
Taking action in what they believed in.
We do not always know where our story might take us in the future.
A part of our journey is to enjoy the ride and to be aware, grateful and kind.
Think about it. What you do every day is your story.
Your success story starts with you as I mentioned In my first post .
Every morning when I wake up I write the story of my day in my mind before I go out and take action on it.
And this is how you can learn to write your story.
Daily practice for success is creating, practicing and documenting your daily actions and mindset.
Writing a book, making a video, teaching, helping others, be a role model, doing your daily routines, showing kindness.
Your story can help others too

I am not a celebrity or a legend, neither are you probably, but it does not mean that your story lose its value to other people .
Does it?

Hey,
Great post. I have heard of people using their story to help others, and create a business out of it. I had just never knew how they did it really.
Your post has given me some really good pointers on how to do it because I want to use my own story of being an engineer, and then building up my career into a leader. I want to help other leaders become the best they can be.
Thank for sharing and I will keep coming back for more helpful posts.
All the best,
Tom

Hi Hilde,
That was an inspiring article about individual life stories. It is a topic that require more reflecting. That remind me of what i learnt in the teenage years. Behind every person success is a story and life is a journey. Yes, indeed. A story can inspire others in many ways, helping them to overcome life adversity. And emerge stronger.
My story revolve around from nothing to something. It is about ” never give up “. To summarise of my life from young till now is to be grateful, thankful and appreciative.
I do agreed that our story can be valuable in creating value to others beside monetary rewards. When i was young, i had read about many inspirational stories of people who struggle through life to what they are today. It is about paying it forward. Building things for the future generations.
I will like my story to pass on to my grand children so that they can become an inspirational person in the future. It is priceless.
Best wishes,
David Koh
Thank you David! I love your summary. Glad I inspired you.
Hi, Hilde!
1. My life story: I chose the story of sport; like what you do, overcoming obstacles, stay healthy …
2. I could do better, reflections, do it best you can
2. Love what you do, all I care about to stay healthy, live well
Yes, some people are extraordinary. They follow their vision, they are passionate about what they do; they find the way how to succeed; they stay focused; some of them make a sacrifice to achieve their goals; some of them serve others; some of them enjoy what they do, some of them take their choice, the right choice … many of them say, they find the strength in Lord.
They found the right path. There are so many different examples of success, with many different ways of accomplishment. They know the way, in one way or another. All of them have their story, their path.
The path is short. The journey ends fast. Knowing the path, feel it, taking the best direction ..is it a skill? Is it a “secret knowledge?” I could comment using the astrology and the law of attraction and karma. You are living in this life what you brought from the past one and you need to learn to do it better in this one.
Be conscient about what to do to chose the right path ..so many things can help you and distract you when choosing the right path … the talent, passion, the story can go on and on. Faith, power, proper mindset, believing, determination …
Huh, is it so complex, or is it more simple? You know it best …
Wish you massive success,
and all the best on your life journey.
Igor
