Why would you need a grammar checker?
I am an affiliate of ProWritingAid which means I promote their product on my website. It is relevant for my website and I know it is a quality product, but I have to be honest and say I have not yet used their product because I have not decided which grammar checker tool to use yet.
I do have a built in simple grammar and plagiarism checker in my writing platform at Wealthy Affiliate where my website is hosted and where I have learned how to earn money with my website. That is working good enough so it has not really been on my agenda to get a better grammar checker before now. English is not my native language so I do want a grammar checker that is good and professional.
I have heard ProWritingAid is one of the best, if not the best, grammar checkers on the market so now I want to take a closer look and review this product hoping to help myself and others to find a product to become better writers.
The Plagiarism checkers catch up differently. They are crawling the internet through billions of sites. Speaking with users of many grammar checkers I found out that none of them are 100% in catching up everything. So it is a matter of finding out which one works best for you and your business.
I always like to do some research on products before I make a decision. If you are reading this post I assume you do too. That is exactly what I am going to do – to take a closer look at the Free Trial.

The difference between ProWriterAid Free trial and Premium?
What is the difference between the Free trial, Premium product?
1. The free trial is free and the Premium plus costs from $24 – $399. It means that you can start totally free and upgrade as you see a need to do so.
2. In the free trial you can only run reports on posts up to 500 words at a time. It means that if your post is more than 500 words you need to do it in turns or upgrade to Premium membership to get unlimited document reports.
3. There is no plagiarism checker with the free trial. Premium Plus offers a plagiarism checker that can check up to 2000 words at a time. You can buy a single plagiarism check for $5.

I have been looking around to see what users might think of ProWritingAid and what is their experience and what they say:
I always used to check products at review sites like G2 and trustpilot in addition to other review sites. When looking for a user perspective I look for user reviews that are helpful to me so I can make a good decision.
What you need to know is that G2 is often giving more in depth reviews than trustpilot. When you leave a review on G2 you need to answer a lot of questions and to verify yourself. On trustpilot you can write what you want and do not have to fill out a question form. It is always good to have this in mind when reading product reviews. Anyone can leave a review so you will often find there are people with an agenda to make the product looking bad for different reasons.

66% think ProWritingAid is excellent and no one think it is useless.

G2 had most user reviews, but still there are too few to really get a good and unbiased impression of this product. I would like it to be more than a 100 user reviews normally. I found several helpful reviews here. There were no reviews that was over the top positive or over the top negative. Almost all mentioned they had become a better writer and that they loved the integration and extensions. Some loved the suggestion feature and others found there were too many suggestions to their taste. The cons were there is no multilingual writing and that you had to copy and Paste your article into ProWritingAid.and that the free version does not come with the plagiarism checker.
Trustpilot Pros: 5 reviews
40% think it is excellent, 20% Average and 40% bad. This surprised me a bit so I took a closer look to find out more about the bad reviews. I quickly understood that it was some very loyal Grammarly affiliates who have written this so I do not count them into my review as I am looking for some more unbiased and helpful reviews to make a solid decision.
The few Trustpilot users who had left a review loved the reports. Note that these scores can change when more people leave a review.

Alternatives to ProWritingAid
Below you see the alternatives I believe are the best alternatives to ProwritingAid. Grammarly is well-known to be a world-class Grammar checker. Ginger Software is maybe not so known, but is a real good alternative.

I conducted a comparison on G2. As you can see from the image above, they are all rated almost the same. I am not going to give you an in depth comparison here. I know they are all good programs. But I want to stress a few things where ProWritingAid is better.
1. The plagiarism checkers catch up differently so many professional writers use several grammar checkers in their work to get the best result. Here it depends on how you write and what you write really. Ginger does not offer a Plagiarism checker.
2. Some users that have used ProWritingAid and Grammarly mention that ProWritingAid have fewer issues.
3. They all have their unique features. ProWritingAid have unique reports and suggestions.
4. ProWritingAid is the only one who supports Mac operative system.
5. ProWritingAid is the only one with a Lifetime plan
6. ProWritingAid is cheaper than Grammarly and Ginger
7. ProWritingAid have more integration and add-ons than Grammarly
Pros
According to my research I have found that ProWriting aid help you to become a better writer. Integration with other programs are the best. You can use the online editor on social media platforms too. The unique reports and sentence suggestions are a clear advantage with this product and the style writing. I find it really awesome that it can be used with a Mac so this is a perfect tool for Mac users I would guess They have a standalone app for Mac users. The App for Mac users is however a bit limited compared to Microsoft users. You can easily uninstall the app in control panel.
Cons
The free trial does not offer a plagiarism checker. They have Currently no IOS app. You can not recover past plagiarism checks. You can not work offline with reports. Plagiarism checker checks maximum 2000 words at a time. There is no Microsoft word add in for Mac.
Surprises
What I especially like is the grammar info graphics and E books for learning. These are definitely some features I think are great and that is a positive surprise.
Should you go for ProwritingAid?
Yes Why not? My research shows ProwritingAid to be a real helpful and one of the best world-class Grammar tools. I think in the end it will be a choice based upon your needs as a writer and how much you want to invest in a grammar program.
Final thoughts – Will you be a better writer with ProwritingAid?
You will definitely become a better writer with this program according to users. Is it the best grammar checker? I think it depends on your needs as a writer. ProWritingAid offers a World class product for many writers out there. And it is the only one currently that can offer a limited App for Mac users. So yes, I will definitely keep a button on ProwritingAid and find no reasons not to use this program to do grammar editing and checks. You will never find the perfect product for all needs, but this is as close as you get.whether English is your native language or not. Hi courtney! Glad I peaked your interest in trying ProWritingAid. Normally I use most of the products I write about. I like to recommend products I use myself or are planning to use. I am trying it out before I make a final decision to buy it .So to answer your question. I have not bought it yet. But I probably will, because I can use this program on my Mac as well and that is the only programme that works with Mac. So for me this seems like a perfect solution. I think you get most value for the money with Premium Plus or the LifeTime product. Especially if you need a plagiarism checker. I think you need to try and see what works best for you.
Hello and thank you for your post about ProWritingAid. So far I have been relying on my own knowledge of grammar. The plagiarism checker used by Wealthy Affiliate has pointed out when I have been plagiarizing myself. I guess after you write enough reviews you might start repeating yourself. Grammar check is very important when it comes to pro writing and one commonly anticipated feature that I always want is the plagiarism check, it helps you know what has been copied from another writers work without being referenced. Unfortunately the plagiarism checker is not included in the free trial. Then you need to go for Premium plus. You can however buy plagiarism checks.

I have in the past been reluctant to consider products like this to help with my writing, however the premium plus you have described here seems to offer great value given the advanced features. I think it would be extra beneficial if your first language isn’t English as the various reports will no doubt help with structuring and making better sense of expressions that are difficult to learn otherwise.

Hi Ray! Great question! I do think it is essential in the way that you will get better writing easier and faster and that you have an extra set of eyes than your own. I would say it gives you an edge. It is also a luxury item , but a helpful one. The premium plus product or the lifetime product will definitely give you most value. All free trials are what the name indicates – a free trial of the product you are interested in. The purpose of a free trial is that you will be able to try the main features of a product before buying it. With full access you are a premium member. I agree that grammar products are most beneficial for people who are not so strong in English for different reasons. But I do also believe that fluent english speakers would find ProWritingAid very helpful. And it will be extremely beneficial for mac users who does not have any current alternatives. Ineresting review, I might need a checker like this, for I’ve started blogging. Writng a blog post can be a struggle specially if you’re not an English native speaker. The need to manually check every sentences is a bit exhausting and honestly it’s time consuming too.

I was looking for an alternative for Grammarly, so great to find out about ProWritingAid! I have trouble writing sometimes because I don’t carry my laptop for work as I already have computers at all my offices. I utilize them to see if they’re in tip-top shape but I can never get used to the different keyboard feel though, since I mostly write on my laptop.
That different keyboard feel makes me type errors more and so I have to slow down which isn’t really my style. You know how it is! Once we writers write fast, there’s no slowing down haha.
